Ranmi’s artistic interest was nurtured over two generations, where she was able to explore colour, texture and form through various media. She studied English literature at university, but her creative instincts led her back to visual art.

The work is inspired by nature –  rhythms of the ocean, seasonal landscapes, ancient trees, vivid skies, and shaped by a strong sense of place and memory.   Having lived in Sri Lanka, Zambia and Kenya before settling in the UK, she draws on a wide range of cultural influences.

Literature also plays a key role in her vision, especially the poetry of Dylan Thomas, Hardy’s rural depictions, Shakespeare, and writers from the Indian subcontinent, Africa and the Caribbean.

In 2022 her work was selected for the RA Summer Exhibition offering key encouragement.
